Naturalistic Table Setting
Hey Friends! I'm exited to share my Naturalistic Table Setting in two versions, so that you'll be ready for a formal dinner and tea party.
There's nothing more comforting than Christmas, smell of ginger bread cookies, oranges and fresh greenery brought from the garden that bring back childhood memories. When I become a Mom I remembered how wonderful are Christmas when you are a kid.
I want to continue family traditions and start new once that create magical moments for my little ones.
Every year I am bringing in evergreen sprigs and decorate my whole house with them. I like to mix diffrent species like pine, cedar, fir or rhododendron. Each one bring something diffrent to the scene and provide intresting look.
This year I bet on Rhododendron and Cedar, and to soften the look Hydrangea flowers. Now I will show you step by step how you can create wonderful Naturalistic Christmas look.
Step 1: Tablecloth
Pick up your Tablecloth. You can start bringing whimsical charm to your home with tablecloth. For this look I picked my Tree of Life Tablecloth becouse I love classic blue and white look, that fits well with any occasion. Animal patterns and florals bring forest feel into your table.
Step 2. Placemats
Next step are placemats. Arrangement of placemats is really important to know how big centerpiece you can make. You don't want the greenery to get into the dinner. And placemats give the beautifull framing for your plates.
Step 3: Centerpiece
Now that you have your placemats you can start with your centerpiece. It can be flower arrangement but I decided to go with one statement piece that is my angel carving. I surround the figuree with fresh cedar that is great base, becouse it lays flat. Next is Rhododendron that add hight and movement. Dark green glossy leaves create this elegant look. For this beautiful romantic feel I added dry hydrangeas in pastel green, blue and pinky shades.
Step 4: Plates
For this table setting I choose classic white scallop plates with gold rim. But decided to add navy blue plates below for contrast. If you're not sure how to mix patterns you can read my previous blog post about Maximalist Table Styling.
Step 5: Ambience
If you want to create a festive atmosphere ther's nothing better than candles and fairy lights. I choose classic glass candlesticks and soft green candles that suit greenery well. And place them among the brunches. At the end I added gold garland with fairy lights for a soft Christmas look.
Step 6: Adding details
My centerpiece needed something extra, that's why I added champagne gold ribbon for more festive look. Tie a bow on my angerl andelabra and I fold the end in half and cut it diagonaly. Weaved ribbon through the greenery for more cohesive look. Don't forget about the back and add ribbon in here to.
Step 7: Napkins
For this table styling i choose my Iris Dinner Napkins and fold it with double triangle fold technique. It's best if the fold fit the pattern on the napkins for more designed look. More elegant folds you find at my blog post 8 Simple Ways to Fold a Napkin.
Step 8. Cutlery
Think about the dishes that you want to serve and add only the cutlery that you need. Christmas is great opportunity to use your finest sets. I choose my go to bamboo cutlery that accent the naturalistic theme.
Step 9: Glasses
Of course festive occassions need festive glasses. Wine or champagne glasses are great for the Holiday dinner. You can accent your choosen colorway or use clear glasses that beautiffuly reflect the lights.
Step 10: Cocktail Napkins
Don't forget about the cocktail napkins that are very practical and are great way for including additional pattern to the table. For this tablesetting I decided tomix two diffrent patterns Horse Cocktail Napkins. and Ultramarine Bow Napkins.
Step 11: Personal gifts
If you want your guests to feel extra special include personalized gifts like small ornaments that refers to the special hobby or the personality of your guests. Those can be inside jokes or anegdote. I placed mine in the little vodka glasses for more elegant look. In my previous blog you have other styling tips that you can use in your Holiday decor.
Last thing I want to show you is how you can easily change a few thing to get a diffrent look for another occasion like tea party.
I start with switching out the napkins. This time I use tea napkins from my Bird & Roses Collection. I accented the head of the table with more intricate design.
Instead of wine glasses I add tea cups. I choose my favourite Royal Copenchagen Set in classic blue and white palette.
For my main centerpiece i choose matching bowl on a stend. Lay out cedar brunches on the bottom and I filled it up with citrus fruits. Don't forget to put the greenery in the gaps for a fuller look. I placed oranges at the bottom and build my way up with the tangerines.
At the end I wanted to apply a soft silk ribbon in dusty blue tone that pair well with my napkins. Left the ends long to weave it through the sprigs. I added additional bows on my candle holders for a cohesive look.
You can switch out the candles, For this table setting I choose gold tones. For additional lighting I added tea light candle holders in the similar color palette.
And that's all, two Naturalistic Christmas looks that you can recreate in your home. Let me know in the comments how do you like this table settings and what look you choose for your Holiday styling this year. You can watch the whole decorating process on my you tube chanel. I wish you all the best for this festive times.
