Ornament Makeover

Ornament Makeover

Hi, Friends! Today I'm sharing my last Christmas DIY - just a few simple makeovers that are very simple and you can recreate them at home.

Christmas are really all around us now, joyful lights on the streets, christmas fairs and festive decorations and children writing letters to Santa.

In Poland we have a special tradition that are the Mikołajki. I just now found out that's mainly our tradition and not every country is celebrate this holiday. When I was a child my Grandma was telling me a story about St. Nicholas, a great men who gave gifts and bring joy to many people.

In memory of hisname In the night from 5th to 6th December Sant Nicolas is revarding good kids with gifts. Pree schools and schools are having special visitor and there's a lot of play and laughter.

I am visiting my husband's Familly, take some time off from my every day chores and decide to tell you all about my last diy - ornament makeover and give you 4 tricks that you can simply transform your old ornaments and give them a new life.

Trick 1: Paint

Paint is one of the easiest and the fastest way to get a new look. If you dreamed of an specific theme or colourway, you don't have to rush to the store for new ornaments - just paint them. I wanted my decorations to fit naturalistic style and accent the colours of the dry hydrangea flowers - greens and blues. Of course a little bit of gold it's geat for any christmas setting, that's why some of my decorations I painted rich gold.

I used Rust Oleum Chalk paint - Bramwell - it's this beautifull shade of green, and Chalk it Blue Mist- becouse I wanted to match the colour of my wall moulding. Thta's one of my favourite greyish blue tones. Other than that I used See Art Metal Effect paint in the colour Rich Gold.

Trick 2: Add Glitter

If you have paint part covered already you can add some extra sparkle to your decorations. Just apply the glue ( I used multi purposed glue) on the place you want the glitter and gently sprinkle it around. I used this method to highlight high points of my star and my tree topper.

Trick 3: Paint Original Motives

For Blue and White Tree Topper I choose motives from my Tree of Life Collection, some gentle leaves and natural inspired shapes will enhence your tree with the nostalgic flair.

Trick 4: Flocking

This technique is really simple and give subtle effect like the first snow fall. For this to work you need a paint, baking soda and a brush. Paint your ornament once and leave it to dry. When it's complately dry paint the second coat and before paint start to dry sprinkle baking soda on it.

I found that's easier to use your fingers rather than a spoon becouse this way you have more control over a finished look. Now shake your ornament and brush off the rest of the soda.

Et voila! You have 4 ideas for a christmas makeover. Easy and affordable. Subscribe to my You Tube chanel for full tutorial and don't forget to read my next blog post how I use my makeovered ornaments to decorate Nostalgic Christmas Tree.
