How to Mix and Match plates.
Cześć, I am so happy you're here!
Don't have full set of plates for a Sunday dinner? Don't worry! Today I am sharing my tips to mix and match plates like a pro to create intresting table that tell a story. If you are a collector like me you know that some plates are hard to come by, that's why I have to be creative while setting the table.
I think that mixing diffrent textures and patterns adds depth to the table and makes it feel more curated.
COLOUR PALETTE
First of all - start with choosing your palette. This always helps me keep a balanced table.
For my recent Easter Table I choose white, green and beige with small touches of pink. Vintage Royal Copenchagen plates that I'm collecting are pretty rare that's why I set them up with classic off white Gerlach plates and cheerful flower plates that I found in TK Maxx and sadly they were discontinued.
I will show you 3 diffrent combinations that you can use to make the table feel more cohesive.

1. Classic matching set
In here I used dinner and salad plate from the matching Royal Copenchagen set.

2. Option nr 2
I choose Royal Copenchagen plate on the botton and accent the head of the table with the cheerful flower shaped plates.

3. Option nr. 3
Classic white Gerlach plate and vintage Royal Copenchagen plate on top.
Now you can see that you don't have to use all the same plates to have a beautiful table. White is always a great option because it pairs great with everything. My vintage plates have green and pink tones in them, that's why they're compose beautifully with the Tulip Tablecloth and napkins.
SHAPE
Try mixing diffrent shapes together for example flowers, scallops or round.
Here I choose a charger plate with the round rim and classic white plates with scallop edges. Shapes of the navy plates refer beautifully to the gold trim plates making this a cohesive look.

TEXTURE
It's great to mix diffrent textures together. Thanks to the cohesive palette you can showcase 3 different shapes od plates and at the same time, gain interest to the table and have a curated look.

In here I only had dessert Royal Coppenchagen plates with hand painted cobalt flowers. I couldn't find a matching dinner plates in this pattern, that's why I used this trick - every place settings gets 3 plates from the 3 diffrent sets. It keeps everything in classic blue and white. You can never go wrong with that!
BACKGROUND
The last trick I want to share with you is using a white plate in-between - it acts as like the background for your dessert plate. It's like a middle layer that connect the charger plate with the dessert plate - otherwise they're would look kind of awkward. I love how pinkish tones in this vintage Wedgwood plate pairs beautifully with my Nigella napkins.

I hope you'll find these tips helpful and that they'll inspire you to create you beautiful table. Don't be affraid to mix diffrent sets and textures - all the fun is in the details. I love Curating my home and waiting for the right thing to come along. I feel that the things that didn't come right away you treasure the most.
