Easy Feather Ornaments

Easy Feather Ornaments

Hi Guys,

with the start of November, you start seeing Christmas stuff here and there. The colorful leaves didn't even have enough time to fall from the trees, and you see more and more of the festive decorations around. Days are really short, that's why I decided to start decorating earlier and bring more light into our home.

After my last post and the colorful table decorations I came up with the different idea - that's slightly more calm and brings nature inside.

In the following posts I will show you, corner by corner, how I incorporated naturalistic style in my decor. But Today I would like to show you a really simple and delicate Christmas Ornament that will bring gentle charm to your home.

Step 1: Gather your materials.

All you need is:

  • feathers - I chose white feathers because I wanted to bring calm and soft tone to my christmas tree
  • plastic balls - you can choose glass one, but I prefer plastic, because my 1 year old son likes to play with them
  • gold paint and brush ( optional ) - I decided to paint top of my ornament gold
  • a ribbon

Step 2: Remove top of the ornament

Top part of my ornament didn't look bad, but a gold tone fit my colorway better, so I painted it. I used a solvent base paint from See Art in a tone of Rich Gold. I used this paint before that's why I knew that you have to wear a mask and gloves while painting with it. You can easily use some Rub n Buff - it gives a beautiful effect too.

Step 3: Fill your ball with feathers

Now you can fill your balls with feathers while you wait for the paint to dry. I suggest you insert the feathers in a different directions - one upside down, and one the other way around, this way they're look more natural. Other than that, make sure you don't add to much, because you want be able to see these are feathers inside and not a blob of white.

Step 4: Attach top of the ornament

Last thing to do is to attach the top part of the ornament and add a ribbon, you can use a velvet ribbon like me.

And that's all - really simple and beautiful ornament. You can see the whole process in my YouTube video - Feather ornaments

Be sure to subscribe and check out my future blogs to see how I decorated the tree with those ornaments.

See you soon, Love, Ana
